By completing this project you will gain a basic understanding of Director's real-time 3D engine. Director has had 3D capabilities since version 8.5, when Macromedia teamed up with Intel and created a real-time 3D engine for Director. Coupled with the fact that Director movies can be put on the Web, a powerful combination resulted. Since its release, developers have used Director's 3D capabilities to create everything from games to product viewers for major corporations. For instance, the Lego company offers the Lego Studios' "Backlot," a multi-level real-time 3D game created with Director. You can play the game here: http://www.lego.com/eng/play/games/backlot.
