Example of tool application

Data Collection for Integrated Product Development (IPD)

  • Goal 1: Compile benchmarking data

    • Question 1: What is average cycle time for process "A"?

      • Matric 1: Reduce process "A" cycle time by 35% by xx/xx/xx

      • Metric 2: Map key processes by xx/xx/xx

  • Goal 2: Acquire IPD customer input data

    • Question 2: How many QFD matrices are required?

      • Metric 3: House of Quality matrix completed by xx/xx/xx

      • Metric 4: Determine internal capability by xx/xx/xx

    • Question 3: How can suppliers meet requirements?

      • Metric 5: Determine supplier capability by xx/xx/xx

      • Metric 6: Verify supplier parts Cp data for X–Y–Z

Notes: Partial data collection plan. Same metric answers two different questions.
