Sending an IDoc to BizTalk Server
This section describes the data flow of an IDoc from an SAP R/3 system to BizTalk Server.
A BizTalk Server specification (XML schema) must already exist for the IDoc to be sent to the SAP R/3 system. To generate a specification, see the section "Generating a BizTalk Server Specification Document."
The following illustration shows the process.
Transferring an IDoc from SAP to BizTalk Server
- The SAP R/3 system delivers an IDoc to the SAP DCOM Connector.
- The SAP DCOM Connector delivers the IDoc, along with a transaction identifier (TID), to the IDoc Handler component of the BizTalk Adapter for SAP.
- The IDoc Handler component converts the IDoc to an IDoc delimited stream.
- The IDoc Handler transfers the IDoc delimited stream to an MSMQ Queue.
- BizTalk Messaging retrieves the IDoc delimited stream from MSMQ.
- The IDoc data stream is validated against the BizTalk Server Specification document (XML schema).
- An XML document is created and sent to BizTalk Server for any additional processing.
Note This process is initiated by the SAP R/3 system.
To confirm the transfer process
Look for a file in the folder on your BizTalk Server computer that was configured to receive files transferred from the R/3 system. Any files present have been received by the Adapter for SAP and validated by BizTalk Server against the BizTalk Server Specification document (XML schema).
