User Interface Support for Product Catalogs

Business managers use several different modules in the Catalogs category in the Commerce Server Business Desk in order to manage their product catalogs:

• Catalog Designer (called the Catalog Definition Designer in Commerce Server 2002). The Catalog Designer module is used to make changes to the catalog schema itself, so that different product characteristics can be stored in the Product Catalog System.
• Catalog Editor. The Catalog Editor module is used to create catalogs, virtual catalogs, and the categories and products they contain.
• Catalog Sets. The Catalog Sets module is used to create and manage named sets of catalogs, which provide a way to organize different sets of catalogs for use by particular groups of users.

Site administrators manage the Product Catalog site resource using the Commerce Server Manager. It is important for making sure that the correct product catalogs are associated with each retail Web site being managed.
