Microsoft Systems Management Server 2.0 Training Kit
Before you begin to work with the material in this training kit, it is recommended that you have demonstrated your understanding of Microsoft technology by:
- Completing the following Microsoft Certified Professional exams: Networking Essentials (70-58), Implementing and Supporting Microsoft Windows NT Workstation 4.0 (70-73), Implementing and Supporting Microsoft Windows NT Server 4.0 (70-67), Implementing and Supporting Microsoft Windows NT Server 4.0 in the Enterprise (70-68), Internetworking with Microsoft TCP/IP on Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 (70-059) or equivalent knowledge, including knowing how to:
- Understand how to design and implement networks
- Install and configure Microsoft TCP/IP, and NWLink IPX/SPX
- Install and configure Windows NT Workstation version 4.0 and Windows NT Server 4.0
- Share and access network resources
- Administer NTFS permissions
- Work with FAT and NTFS
- Create domain user accounts, local groups, and global groups with User Manager for Domains
- Use Windows NT Administrative tools, such as Server Manager
- Configure Windows NT services using the Control Panel's Services application
- Install and configure DHCP Server
- Install and configure RAS
- View and interpret data from the Windows NT Event Viewer's System, Security, and Application logs
- View and interpret data from Windows NT Performance Monitor
- Edit the registry
It is also useful if you have an understanding of basic systems management concepts, including:
- Software distribution and installation
- Remote control and file transfer
- Hardware and software inventory
- Software metering
