When you sign up with an ISP, both you and the ISP have to provide certain information to each other. You provide your name, address, and credit card number; your ISP provides a variety of semi-technical information, including Your username and password Your email address The names of the ISP's incoming and outgoing mail servers Your email account name and password The name of your ISP's Usenet news server The phone number to dial into (if you're using a dial-up connection)
