Before we finish our quick spin around the desktop, let's examine the My Computer folder and see what's on your hard disk. Follow these steps:
1. | Click the Start button to display the Start menu. |
2. | Select My Computer to open the My Computer folder, shown in Figure 4.10. Figure 4.10. The contents of your My Computer folder.

3. | Hover your cursor over your local hard disk drivetypically labeled drive C. |
4. | Information about your hard disk is displayed in the Details panel of the activity pane, and basic operations are displayed in the System Tasks panel. |
5. | Position your cursor over the hard disk icon, and click your right mouse button (in other words, right-click the icon). |
6. | This displays a pop-up menu. Select Properties from this menu. |
7. | When the Properties dialog box appears, select the General tab. As you can see in Figure 4.11, this tab displays a pie chart that represents how much of your hard disk is currently used and how much free space is available. Figure 4.11. Viewing interesting information about your hard disk.

8. | Click OK to close the dialog box. |
