Windows XP for Home Users, Service Pack 2 Edition
Only the computer administrator can add a new user to your system. Here's how it's done:
Windows XP now creates the new account, and randomly assigns a picture that will appear next to the user name. You or the user can change this picture at any time. (See "Editing User Settings," next.) You also can assign a password to this new account. By default, no password is assigned. But if you follow the instructions in the "Changing Another User's Settings" section of this chapter, you can create a password and force the user to enter it whenever he or she wants to use the computer. When you turn on your computer, you're greeted with Windows XP's Welcome screen. All registered users are listed on this screen. Click your user name or picture and enter your password (if necessary), and you launch Windows as the selected user, with access to your own personal files and settings. CAUTION Limited users can only change their own accounts. They can't change anyone else's account.
