iPod and iTunes Starter Kit (2nd Edition)

As you select various menu options, your iPod "clicks" to give you audible feedback. You can configure how the clicker works using the Clicker setting options. The options you have depend on whether you are using an iPod or an iPod mini.

If you have an iPod, you choose to have the Clicker play through the iPod's Speaker, which means you hear the Clicker whether any output device is attached to the iPod or not; Headphones, which causes the Clicker sound to play only through a connected output device (such as earbuds); Both, which causes the Clicker sound to play through the speaker and through an output device; or Off, which turns the clicking sound off. To set one of these options, choose Main menu, Settings. Highlight the Clicker command and press the Select button until the setting you want appears next to the Clicker preference.

If you have an iPod mini, you can only turn the Clicker on or off. You can turn it off by choosing Main menu, Settings. Then highlight the Clicker option and press the Select button so that its setting becomes Off. Your iPod mini will start running in silent mode. To make your iPod mini click again, highlight the Clicker option and press the Select button so that its setting becomes On. Your iPod mini will happily click away as you move around its menus.

Tip

If you accidentally select a language that you can't read, you can use the information in the next section to reset the language even if you can't read the iPod's menus.
