iPod and iTunes Starter Kit (2nd Edition)

Working with the iPod's Language

When you first turned your iPod on, you selected the language in which you wanted it to communicate with you. In most cases, you will never need to change that initial setting. However, you can if you do need to for some reason.

To choose a different language, choose Main menu, Settings, Language. You'll see the Language menu (see Figure 6.11). Highlight the language you want your iPod to use and press the Select button. The menus will change and use the language you selected.

Figure 6.11. If I were multilingual, one of these settings might be useful, but since I am language limited, they aren't.

Tip

If you have set your iPod to use a language that you can't read, you can reset it by choosing the Settings command, which is the fourth command on the Main menu (by default), and then choosing the last command on the Settings menu (which is the Reset All Settings command). On the resulting menu, choose the second command and press the Select button to reset the iPod. Of course, if you have customized the Main menu, the Settings command might or might not be the fourth one down. When you customize the Main menu, it is a good idea to remember where that command is, just in case.
