Premiere 6.5 Fundamentals
In Chapter 2, "Source Material: Getting It into Premiere," you saw how easy it is to transfer your source footage from your digital video (DV) camcorder or deck to Premiere. Recording your edited timeline back to your DV device is just as simple. All you need to do is hook up your DV camcorder or deck to your computer using a standard IEEE 1394 (FireWire/i.Link) cable. Set your camcorder to VTR mode, and voila! You can choose how you want Premiere to display your DV-compressed video, whether just on the LCD screen of your DV device or on your computer monitor as well. Keep in mind that playback of full-screen video on your computer monitor requires additional RAM and processor performance. I recommend keeping this feature off to reduce the risk of playback errors. To output to tape via a FireWire connection, do the following:
note Make sure that you stripe the tape with black and timecode in order to output your video program to tape properly.
