Understanding DB2: Learning Visually with Examples (2nd Edition)
4.1. DB2 Tools: The Big Picture
Figure 4.1 shows most of the DB2 tools available from the IBM DB2 menu on the Windows platform and the sequence of items to click to start them. These same tools (except the Command Window) are available on the Linux and UNIX platforms. Figure 4.1. The IBM DB2 menu
The tools that you see in Figure 4.1 are of two types: command driven and non-command driven. In the next section you will learn about command-driven tools, and in section 4.4, General Administration Tools, you will be presented with the non-command-driven tools, which are available only using a graphical interface. In most cases you can perform the same DB2 commands and SQL statements using either type of tools. |
