Special Edition Using Adobe Creative Suite 2

You find all your palettes in the Window menu. If a palette is not open in Photoshop, open the Window menu to select the palette. You can also load and save workspace arrangements.

All the palettes and even the Options bar are accessed from the Window menu. This is true for every Adobe program. If there is a palette to be found, it is accessed from the Window menu. When a palette is already visible onscreen, a check box appears next to the palette's name in the Window menu.

At the bottom of the Window menu is the list of all open documents. When you select an open document, it comes to the front for you to edit:

  • Arrange, Tile Horizontally and Tile Vertically: You can arrange all open images on the screen at once. Select Tile Horizontally or Tile Vertically and the images will be arranged onscreen fitting them as large as possible for you to view at once.

  • Arrange, Match Zoom/Location: With multiple images open at the same time, you can select one image window (suppose that it displays in the window at 315% of its actual size and reveals only the lower-left corner); the Match Zoom and Match Location commands find the other images and display them at 315%, revealing only the lower-left corners of those images as well.

  • Workspace, Save, Delete, and Default Workspace: If you find you have an arrangement of open palettes that suits your workflow, you can save this workspace to make it accessible at a later time. You can save several workspaces for different types of tasks you might perform. Select Window, Workspace, Save and name your workspace. After your workspace is saved you find it under Window, Workspace, Your workspace name. If you do not want to keep a workspace any longer, choose Window, Workspace, Delete, and the workspace is deleted. If you don't have a saved workspace, but you want to clean up the palettes in Photoshop quickly, choose Workspace, Default Workspace. The default workspace puts the toolbox on the left side and commonly used palettes neatly arranged on the right side.

  • Workspace, Keyboard Shortcuts & Menus: Customize your keyboard shortcuts to frequently used commands and create your own custom menu arrangements for work in Photoshop. Assign which menus are shown or hidden and which are colored. Keyboard shortcuts make it easier to handle tedious tasks. Create your own keyboard shortcuts for application menus, palette menus, and tools. Save your keyboard shortcut settings with a custom name.

  • Workspace, Menus (various): From the Workspace submenu you can choose from several menu arrangements. These menu arrangements fit with different types of workflows. Some of the preconfigured menus are Automation, Basic, Image Analysis, and Web Design. When choosing one of these menu options, your Photoshop menus display certain workflow-related menus in identifiable colors.
