For those who are able to install their own dedicated LAN wiring or pay others to do it, and are willing to be confined to the few sites where the LAN connectors are located, the ultimate in performance and reliability is available. Further information on LANs may be found as www.uts.utexas.edu/ethernet/ethernet or www.10gea.org. The following are not considered to be LANs, but the are used to interconnect equipment via short connectorized jumper cables.
