With Word 2003, Microsoft extended Word's capabilities in two major areas. First, Word is now XML -enabled , meaning that you can use it to read, create, and save documents in XML (Extensible Markup Language). Second, software developers can create Smart Documents ”highly interactive XML-based documents that are tightly integrated into a company's business processes.
