44. Switch to a New Location

After your locations are set up, switching from one to another is a straightforward matter. As soon as you turn on or wake up the computer in a new location, simply select the new location from the global Apple menu; the most preferred access method for your new location is automatically activated.

1.

Open Location Submenu

Open the Apple menu and hover the mouse over the Location option; a submenu appears, listing all the currently configured locations.

2.

Select Location to Switch To

Find the location whose configuration matches the place where you are; click the location entry to switch to that location.

3.

Allow Configuration to Switch

Depending on the kind of network devices that are configured as part of the selected location, Mac OS X may take several seconds to apply the configuration and activate the most preferred device in your list. Allow 5 to 10 seconds before attempting to connect to the network with your favorite applications.
