Recipe 23.13. Connecting Windows 95/98/ME to a Samba Domain

23.13.1 Problem

Your new Samba primary domain controller (PDC) is ready to roll how do you connect a Windows 95/98/ME client?

23.13.2 Solution

This is the easiest one of all. First, be sure to log into Windows as the same user you're going to use to log into Samba. Next, confirm that networking is set up correctly (see Recipe Recipe 23.14). Then, go to Control Panel Network Client for Microsoft Networks Properties. Check "Logon to NT Domain." Enter the domain name (holstein, in our example). Check "Logon and restore network connections." Click OK, and it will ask you for your Windows CD. Reboot to activate the changes. After rebooting, you can log into the domain.

23.13.3 Discussion

Remember that the workgroup name in smb.conf is your new domain name.
