Before you can start using Backup, you must first download it from Apple's Mac.com web site. 1. | Go to the Mac.com web site (www.mac.com) and click the "Backup" icon (the red umbrella) in the web page's sidebar. | 2. | Log in using your Mac.com membership name and password. | 3. | From the "Backup" page that opens, click the "Download Backup 2" icon (shown below-left) to open another page that contains three columns of downloadable files. In the third column, click the download icon to the right of the Backup name in the list (show below-right). Finally, the "Download Backup" page opens (below). Tip Turn off Energy Saver before you use Backup. If your computer goes to sleep, it might interrupt the backup process. |
| 4. | Click the Download link for the version of Backup that is compatible with your version of Mac OS X (circled above). | 5. | After downloading is finished, install the software as usual (double-click the .dmg or pkg file and follow the directions). | 6. | Find the "Backup" icon in the Applications folder, then double-click it to open the "Backup" window, as shown on the next page. | |
