Robin Williams Cool Mac Apps. A guide to iLife '05, .Mac, and more.

You can enable or disable syncing and set certain behaviors.

1.

Open iSync. It's in your Applications folder. From the iSync menu, choose "Preferences…."

2.

In the iSync Preferences (below-left), check the options you want to enable.

Enable syncing on this computer: This allows the process to happen. It enables syncing of the applications listed in the Sync pane of .Mac preferences (page 319).

Show status in menu bar provides access from the menu bar (below) to iSync's status, sync commands, and to the .Mac preferences Sync pane where you choose the applications you want to sync.

iSync status in the menu bar.

The exclamation point in the menu bar icon indicates a sync conflict (page 321).

Show Data Change Alert: This pop-up menu lets you set an alert when iSync is about to change more than a certain pre-set percentage of your information. The alert will give you a chance to cancel or allow the sync.

Reset Sync History: Resets the sync history, but does not delete any data. The next time you sync, iSync behaves as if syncing for the first time, asking if you want to merge or replace information (as shown on page 319).
