Robin Williams Cool Mac Apps. A guide to iLife '05, .Mac, and more.

The World Wide Web is easier to browse, thanks to Safari RSS, Apple's web browser. The RSS (Really Simple Syndication) technology that is now available on many web sites provides news stories and articles in the form of headlines and brief summaries that link full-length versions on various web sites. Safari includes a collection of RSS feeds, but you can choose which RSS feeds you want, and you can add others whenever you want. RSS feeds make it easy to quickly browse lots of information, then click a story that interests you to see the full details. You can view RSS feeds directly in the Safari window without needing to open a separate RSS reader.

Safari also includes many other advanced features that make exploring the Internet easier, more productive, and more secure:

  • Turn on private browsing when you use someone else's computer to prevent Safari from storing any information about you or the sites you visit.

  • Email a web page to others, complete with links and graphics.

  • Save a web page as an archive for viewing later.

  • Turn on parental controls for your child's user account to limit web access to your authorized web sites listed in the Bookmarks bar.

  • View PDFs directly in Safari without opening another application.

  • Search Bookmarks and History to find web pages you need.

  • Import bookmarks you've created in other browsers.

All of this plus search features that add more power and versatility than ever makes Safari more than just a browserit's a super browser!
