MCSE Training Kit (Exam 70-225): Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server Design and Deployment (Pro-Certification)

This self-paced training course contains activities to help you learn about designing and deploying Exchange 2000 Server. These activities are based on fictitious case studies and they are theoretical in nature. It is assumed that you have a workstation with Microsoft Office 2000 or Microsoft Office XP available to work with the Microsoft Excel workspaces that are on the companion CD-ROM to this book.

The activities in this book do not require a test environment or networked computers, but a 120-day Evaluation Edition of Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server is included in this training kit.

Hardware Requirements

Each computer you are working on must have the following minimum configuration and all hardware should be on the Microsoft Windows 2000 Server Hardware Compatibility List.

Setup Instructions

If you want to set up an Exchange 2000 server to verify the explanations from this book in practice, set up your computer according to the manufacturer's instructions, install Windows 2000 Server (including the Network News Transfer Protocol [NNTP] service) on it, update the installation with Windows 2000 Service Pack 1, and promote the server to a domain controller. You are then ready to install Exchange 2000 Server.

Caution


If your computer is part of a larger network, you must verify with your network administrator that the computer name, domain name, Internet Protocol (IP) address, and other information used in setting up Exchange 2000 Server as described in this section do not conflict with network operations. If they do conflict, ask your network administrator to provide alternative values and use those values throughout the exercises in this book.
