Oracle Real Application Clusters

Unlike other operating systems, clustering of the Linux systems is done through Oracle Cluster Management Software (OCMS). OCMS consists of two components: the watchdog daemon and the CM.
-
The watchdog daemon monitors the CM and passes notifications to the watchdog timer at defined intervals.
-
The CM maintains the status of the nodes and the Oracle instances across the cluster. The CM process runs on each node of the RAC. Each node has one CM.
