Oracle Real Application Clusters

 < Day Day Up >

This chapter has been a very generic chapter covering various definitions. These definitions are discussed to provide a foundation for a more detailed discussion in the performance-tuning chapter later in this book.

In this chapter we looked at the various dynamic performance views and discussed their usage in a RAC environment. We also looked at certain views and discussed the X$ tables that these views are based on. These discussions were to introduce the user to certain internals of performance management. As it was noticed, certain columns found in the tables are not directly reflected in the dynamic performance views.

This completes Part II of the book and in Part III we will cover operations. In Chapter 10, we will discuss the availabilty and scalability features of the RAC option, what it provides, when and how the RAC guard could be put to use, and its installation and configuration process.
