MAC address

Media Access Control address. A unique identifier given to each network device by its manufacturer. The MAC address is a series of codes separated by dashes.

MAC address filtering

A router feature that allows only computers with authorized MAC addresses to connect to it wirelessly .

A programmable language embedded in a large program, often used to automate tasks .

macro virus

A type of virus that is created in a macro language and embedded in a document. Macro viruses are the most common type of computer virus.

A type of computer virus that sits in a computer's random access memory (RAM).

modem

A device that connects a computer to an Internet provider or another computer over conventional telephone lines at low speeds.

motherboard

The main circuit board in a computer to which the system's components , including the microprocessor and memory, are attached.

multi-partite virus

A virus that attacks several parts of a computer including programs, files, and boot sectors.

A technology that provides a built-in firewall feature on home network routers by hiding internal IP addresses. It is also known as natural address translation.
