I was working on Madison Avenue at D'Arcy, McManus, & Masius the day Elvis died. I stepped off the elevator at 285 Madison and saw the startling headline, "The King Is Dead!" on the cover of The Daily News . It didn't occur to me then, but Elvis' death and animatics are inexorably linked. Research killed creativity, and Madison Avenue killed rock 'n' roll!
