Understanding the IBM WebFacing Tool: A Guided Tour (IBM Illustrated Guide series)

The WebFacing Tool allows you to specify command key descriptions for command keys that are commonly used in your application but are not described in your DDS source or on your screens. As a result, the conversion process can automatically change the push button labels on the Web pages to the correct text.

You will add the description Cancel to the WebFacing conversion properties so that the push button shows the label Cancel instead of CA12.

In the WebFacing Projects list,

• Right-click your wflabxx project.

• Select Properties from the pop-up menu, as shown in Figure 8.8.

The Properties for wflabxx dialog opens.

In the list on the left side of this dialog, as shown in Figure 8.9,

• Select Conversion ’ Command key button labels.

A dialog opens on the right side of the properties dialog.

• In the Command key combination box, select F12 .

• In the Button label combination box, select Cancel.

• Click Add (to the right of these two combination boxes).

The additional label is now part of the WebFacing conversion properties for this project.

• Click the OK push button at the bottom of the Properties dialog.

In the next section, you can test this feature.

Converting the Application

Convert the application in the workbench:

• Expand your wflabxx project.

• Expand the DDS folder.

• Right-click the ORDENTD member icon.

• Select Convert from the pop-up menu.

After conversion, examine the change.

Running the Web Application

Now you can look at the new label for the F12 push button in your Web-enabled application.

• Right-click your wflabxx project.

• Select Run on Server from the pop-up menu.

• Go to the browser pane and click the Order Entry link.

• Check that the Cancel push button on the first page now displays the correct label as shown in Figure 8.10.
