Press I to set an In point and O to set an Out point.

A2:

You can press X to mark the duration of a clip in the Timeline.

If the Auto Select control is toggled on for a track, the clips between the edit points on that track will be highlighted and will be included in the selection.

They follow the priority of V1 through V99, and then A1 through A99.

A5:

Pressing Delete alone leaves a gap where the material was edited. This type of delete is referred to as a lift.

Pressing Shift-Delete or Forward-Delete removes both clips and gap within the marked area. This type of delete is referred to as Ripple Delete.
