The Intrusion Detection System (IDS) 4.0 software contains a full command-line interface (CLI) that is very similar to Cisco's IOS CLI interfaces on their other products. Although you can configure the IDS using the easier Web interfaces such as IDS Device Manager (IDM) and IDS Management Console (IDS MC), the CLI still remains an important configuration tool, and Cisco expects you to know how to use it. This chapter explains how you connect and how you navigate the different levels to configure some settings on Cisco's IDS sensors.
