In addition to communicating via email, you can also use Windows XP to send and receive faxes. Windows XP includes a program called Fax Console that organizes your incoming faxes and enables you to create new faxes.

To fax from Windows XP, you must have a fax modem. (Most dial-up modems also function as a fax.) If you have a broadband connection (such as a cable modem), you cannot use this modem to send a fax.
