The Hardware Compatibility List is published by Microsoft for each of its operating systems and is updated on a monthly basis. There is a copy of the HCL on the Windows 2000 Professional CD, located in the Support folder and named Hcl.txt.

- Hotkeys

This option allows you to change the mapped out hotkeys within a session. This is useful when applications have hard coded hotkeys that cannot be changed. These hotkeys are set by default to not interfere with local client Windows hotkeys.
- Hot-swappable components

Hot-swappable server components are available that can be changed out while the server is online, without interrupting service.
