| In Step 5, "Using Forms with ColdFusion MX," we built a very basic search form. This search form was nothing more than a simple query of our products database. It did not search the body text of any of our web pages. ColdFusion MX Server comes bundled with a version of the Verity search engine (www.verity.com). The Verity engine in ColdFusion is a full-blown search engine. It enables you to index and perform searches against database content and most standard document types, including HTML, PDF, and Microsoft Office documents. Using ColdFusion's Verity search engine, you could index entire directories of company documents. Then, using ColdFusion, you could create a form-based search interface that would enable employees to search through these documents and that would return relevancy-based search results similar to web-based search engines, such as Google and Alta Vista. |
