ColdFusion MX can be installed on a dizzying array of hardware platforms. The following are the supported operating systems:

Windows 98

Windows ME

Windows NT Server and Workstation (SP6a)

Windows 2000 Professional and Server (SP2)

Windows XP Home and Professional

RedHat Linux 6.27.2

SuSE Linux 7.2, 7.3

Solaris 7.8

HP-UX 11.00

Try that with .NET!

NOTE

Note that, at the time of this writing, there is no Mac support for ColdFusion MX Server.

Hardware requirements vary between operating system platforms and ColdFusion Server editions. As a minimum, however, your system should have the following specifications or the equivalent.

Processor

Pentium or equivalent

RAM (MB)

128 (minimum), 256512 (recommended)

Hard drive space (MB)

400 to install, 250 to run

In addition, because ColdFusion MX is a Java-based architecture, you will need to have the Java Runtime Environment ( JRE) on your computer. Don't worry if you do not already have it installed. ColdFusion will install the most appropriate version during setup.

For more information on hardware requirements, see the Macromedia guide "Installing ColdFusion MX" available at http://download.macromedia.com/pub/ coldfusion/documentation/cfmx_install_cfmx.pdf or follow the links from www.LearnColdFusionMX.com.
