Windows Server 2003 on Proliants. Deployment Techniques and Management Tools for System Administrators

 <  Day Day Up  >

The physical design contains important aspects of the physical infrastructure, including placement of DNS server, DCs, GC servers, and FMSO role holders. Location of these servers, as well as proper design of DHCP, DNS, and Time Services infrastructure, will ensure a stable environment for the Windows 2003 enterprise. This chapter provided additional insight into these issues based on experience and case studies. If you are new to Windows 2003 or Windows 2000 and need more basic information, refer to the resources listed in the "References" section at the end of this chapter.

Of course, good documentation will allow a critical review of the design as well as a blueprint of how the design was implemented for later reference and possible troubleshooting of problems in the infrastructure.

The pilot should be planned and organized to ensure the success of the production deployment, including documentation and evaluation.
