Chapter 7. Team your computer with your handheld In this chapter You get the most out of your handheld when you team it with Palm® Desktop software on your computer. Using Palm Desktop, you can quickly enter large amounts of information and then synchronize it all to your handheld. Even if you use another program to manage your Calendar and Contacts info, you still need Palm Desktop to sync. What is Palm Desktop software? Palm Desktop is your handheld's indispensable companion on your computer. Even if you use Outlook, you need Palm Desktop because some applications, like Photos and Note Pad, are available only in Palm Desktop. |
Want Outlook? If you picked Palm Desktop when you went through installation, and now you want to switch to Outlook, reinsert the installation CD. From the Discover Your Handheld screen, select Install Microsoft Outlook Conduits. |
Sync often Sync your handheld and your PC often. That way, you have a backup of your info at home when you're on the road with your handheld. |
Look for Quick Install on your desktop Add applications to your handheld with Quick Install. Quick Install is automatically put on your desktop when you install Palm Desktop. (On a Mac, look for the Send To Handheld droplet in the palmOne folder. In OS X, drag it to the Dock to make it easier to drag stuff to transfer to your handheld.) | |
