Maximum Wireless Security
This chapter should leave you with a sinking feeling of doom if you are relying solely on WEP to protect your WLAN. However, although we do not want to down-play the seriousness of this threat, it would actually take two weeks or longer to capture enough data to crack WEP on a minimally used wireless network. In other words, home users are fairly secure from casual "drive-by" hackers if they change their password/WEP key every two weeks. On the other hand, highly trafficked (and highly prized) corporate WLANs must continue to use a traditional, layered approach to security ”in addition to using WEP. |
