| Before You Begin 72 About Titles and Credits 73 Create Movie Titles See Also 79 Add Special Effects to Titles and Credits The location of your titles determines how you apply them and where they appear on the timeline. If you want to place a title on a particular clip, you are placing a title overlay on the clip to be shown while the clip plays (as opposed to showing the title in a clip before the scene plays). You can use a title overlay on top of a clip to translate a foreign language being spoken or to provide background to the scene. You can only place title overlays on clips with the timeline showing. You cannot place a title on a clip with the storyboard showing. The title appears on the timeline's Title Overlay track. - Click to Show Timeline
Click the Show Timeline button to display the timeline if the storyboard currently appears. You can only place titles on clips with the timeline showing. - Click Clip
Click to select the clip on which you want to place the title. - Select Tools, Titles and Credits
Start the title process by selecting Titles and Credits from the Tools menu. - Click to Add Overlay Title to Clip
Because you want to place the title on the clip, click Add title on selected clip in the storyboard . Movie Maker opens the Enter Text for Title dialog box. - Type Primary Text
Type the title's primary text that appears as a title above any subtitle text you enter. - Type Secondary Text
NOTE | | The Monitor pane shows a picture under the title that you preview. If you're adding a title before or after the clip, the Monitor pane shows only a blue background. If you adjust the title's transparency ( see 73 Create Movie Titles ), you will be able to preview how the transparency contrasts to the underlying clip in the Monitor pane. | Type the title's secondary text that appears as a subtitle beneath the title. - Click to Change Font
Click the Change the text font and color option if you want to modify the text style or color ( see 73 Create Movie Titles ). - Click to Add Title
Place the title on the selected clip by clicking the option labeled Done, add title to movie . TIP | | Drag the line that divides the timeline from the Contents pane toward the top of your screen to increase the size of the timeline tracks if you have difficulty seeing the Overlay Title track. | - Review Title Clip
The title appears on your timeline's Title Overlay track in line with its clip. You can click to select the clip and preview the clip's title in the Monitor pane. |
