Network Virtualization

Chapter 3, "A Basic Virtualized Enterprise," briefly described the typical multilayer campus architecture, with its traditional building blocks of access, distribution, and core. Other chapters looked at how the distribution and core must change to support virtualized services. Now it is time to look at the access layer.

The discussion is organized into three broad sections:

  • A short section on the access layer to review the key features deployed in the wiring closet

  • The issues of authentication and authorization

  • A design example
