To simplify certain functions such as resource provisioning and load advertisement, service types are grouped into service categories. For example, as shown in Table A-7, the ATM Forum service types CBR.1, CBR.2, and CBR.3 are grouped into the service category CBR.

Service categories are meant to accommodate ATM Forum service types.

For the rest of the service categoriesVSI, MPLS, vendor-specific, and Cisco-proprietarythe categories are the same as the corresponding service types.
