Getting your Web page to interact with a database is easily done with Dreamweaver MX, and pretty much all the options you would want are covered. However, there are bound to be occasions when there is something you want to do, but there is no server behavior available for you to do it. When this happens, you have a number of options. You can go to the Macromedia Exchange and download a server behavior to create the functionality you want. You can hand code the file to include the server-side code that's needed to do the job. You can build your own server behavior so that next time you want to do the same job, the code is already there for you or other members of your team. This chapter describes each option in turn, discussing the pros and cons of each. |
