| By Matt Pizzi IN THIS CHAPTER Templates will not only increase your productivity, but they also promote consistency throughout the design of your site. Templates are especially useful for sites that use a similar page design on the majority of their pages. Additionally they can be beneficial if there are contributing content developers who may not necessarily be in tune with page design. They can add their content only to regions that you, or the designer of the template, specify as areas that can be edited. Templates are not recommended for those who often have many major changes to make across a variety of page designs. Templates are optimal when it is only certain regions that need changing or updating. Any page that is created based on a template has a link associated with it. For example, if the original template was modified and saved, all pages that use that template would be automatically updated to reflect the new changes. This is one of the real strengths of templates. |
