Adding the "On Site" Reporter Clip to the Project As part of this project, the anchorman is introducing a report out in the field, in Hawaii. After his introduction, we "cut away" to the on-site reporter. Since this is a cut away, we'll add the clip to the Timeline by dropping the clip right next to the anchor clip on the same video track. Add the Reporter - With your mouse, select the reporter.avi clip from the Available Media view on the Media panel.
- Drag and drop the reporter.avi clip onto the Video 3 track on the Timeline of the My Project panel, directly to the right (and touching) the anchor.avi clip, as shown in the illustration.
Timesaver To easily make the two clips "fit together," be sure you have the Snap feature turned on. Remember, you can turn Snap on and off by selecting the MORE button at the top right of the My Project panel, and then selecting Snap. But perhaps the fastest way to activate and deactivate Snap is to just press the "s" key on your keyboard.
Did You Know? You are using A and B Clips. When you have two clips side-by-side like this on the Timeline, the arrangement creates one of the basic editing situations in film and video. The anchor.avi clip is referred to as the "A" clip. It is the current, but outgoing, clip. The reporter.avi clip is called the "B" clip. It is the incoming, and soon to be current clip. Finally, the cut between these two clips, then, is the classic A/B cut. |
