Shrinking the "Elf"

In this task, we'll "shrink" the elf down to little, tiny elf size. This is a simple procedure in Premiere Elements 3. Later, when we have the elf down to true elf dimensions, we'll move her over to a slightly different starting location that will increase the illusion of having an elf in the garden even more. You will not believe how effective you will be with this illusion, even when created on your own home computer!

Shrink the Elf Down to Elf Proportions

Click on the elf.avi clip on the Video 2 track to select it.

In the Properties panel, select the Motion effect.

The elf clip in the Monitor panel will now appear with sizing handles, as shown.

Grab one of the handles and drag to resize the elf.

Tip

In the next task, we will be hiding the elf behind the watering can, so eyeball the relative size of the elf as you shrink her. You want the elf to be slightly smaller than the base of the watering can.
