Hollywood Special Effects with Adobe Premiere Elements 3

As the first step in transforming a regular video clip into a "pencil sketch" version, we want to bring out the lines in the video. Then, when we later remove the color from the clip, these lines will stand out much like the marks made when drawing with pencil. Bringing out the lines in the video clip is achieved by applying the Sharpen effect, one of Premiere Elements' built-in video effects.

Sharpening the Lines

Switch to the Effects and Transitions view on the Media panel by clicking the Effects and Transitions button.

Type sharpen in the text box on the Effects and Transitions view.

Select the Sharpen effect from the Blur & Sharpen subfolder of the Video Effects folder and drag and drop it onto the pencil_house.avi clip on the Video 1 track on the Timeline.

On the Properties panel for the pencil_house.avi clip, click the triangle next to Sharpen to reveal the effect's controls.
Enter 333 for the Sharpen Amount under the Sharpen effect.
