| Every Virtual Partition has separate startup and shutdown scripts just as you would have separate scripts on individual systems. There isn't any unique activity that takes place from a startup and shutdown standpoint due to Virtual Partitions; however, since each vPar is running its own HP-UX, you can customize the startup and shutdown to meet the needs of the applications you're running in each vPar. In addition, there is a heartbeat deamon that is used to synchronize the Virtual Partition database every few seconds. Let's take a look at an application running in a vPar and the startup and shutdown procedures employed to support this application.
