In Manchester encoding, the voltage transition is in the middle of the bit period. A low-to-high transition represents 1 and high-to-low transition represents 0. The advantage of this scheme is that the transition serves as a clocking mechanism, and errors can be detected if there is no transition. However, bandwidth requirement for this scheme is higher as compared to other schemes.
In Manchester encoding, 1 is represented by low-to-high voltage transition and 0 is represented by high-to-low voltage transition. This scheme is useful for deriving the clock, and errors can be detected.
