Preface to the Second Edition
The Waite Group's New C Primer Plus has, we hope, met the objectives outlined in the preface to the first edition. We were pleased to learn that the Computer Press Association recognized New C Primer Plus as the best how-to book of 1990, and now we're trying to improve on that book. Here's what's new this time:

A new chapter (Chapter 17) explores the philosophy and techniques of advanced data representations. The first 16 chapters concentrate on presenting the C language to you, and this chapter focuses on introducing you to the science of programming.

The book is ANSI-er than ever, with an earlier emphasis on following ANSI C precepts.

Examples have been retested using the latest compilers from Microsoft and Borland.

We pay greater attention to the Macintosh user by offering guidance on using Think C.
