| With some simple routing, you can simultaneously record two versions of the input signal: one straight and one processed . Here's how to set it up: | 1. | Connect your signal to Input 1. | | 2. | In the patch bay area of the Routing screen, drag the connection from Input Mixer 3-4 to analog inputs 1-2, as shown in Figure 16.1. (Input Mixer source selection is by paired channels only.) Figure 16.1. Connect two Input Mixer channels to one input | | 3. | Set Input Mixer channel 1 control with no processing at all. | | 4. | Set Input Mixer channel 3 with any dynamics, effects, and EQ desired. | | 5. | Record both tracks 1 and 3, as shown in Figure 16.2. Figure 16.2. Record on both channels | | 6. | After recording, you may choose to move track 3's data to another V-Track of channel 1. For example, your "flat" recording could be on V-Track 1.1, and your "processed" recording on V-Track 1.2, as shown in Figure 16.3. Figure 16.3. Move the second channel data to an open V-Track under the first channel's V-Track | | 7. | Remember to reset the patch bay after use to avoid confusion later. | |
