We conclude this chapter with a summary of the role played by the XForms architecture in multimodal interaction in Table 10.1. XForms has been designed as a reusable forms module for use within the W3C's Web architecture. It can be used today within XHTML 1.1 and is slated to become the default forms module in XHTML 2.0. With the intense level of standards activity at the W3C and other standards organizations like the Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) around multimodal interaction and mobile access, XForms can be expected to play a pivotal role in the evolving next generation Web.
