Unlocking Microsoft C# V 2.0 Programming Secrets (Wordware Applications Library)

Overview

Game-making is a lot of fun, and in the process of creating games , most programmers hone their logic coding skills. This chapter discusses three projects that are located in Visual Studio 2005\Projects\ DemosSourceCode. The first two involve game-making:

• TicTacToe is an ageless game played by two players. This project includes full scorekeeping since most tic-tac-toe devotees play a series of games at one setting.

• BattingPractice builds a minimal baseball playing field and allows the batter to swing at pitches thrown by the pitcher. Scorekeeping is not included in this project, but we suggest some ways that a programmer can enhance this project.

The third project introduces animation:

• The RollingBlock project rolls a block along a flat surface at variable speeds, and the user can increase or decrease the rolling rate at the click of a button.

The last discussion in this chapter is about why there are no games that use bitmaps.
