Customizing Windows XP: Visual QuickProject Guide
You can install a program you download from the Internet or from a CD. In either case, there is usually an installer program called setup.exe or install.exe that is run. Sometimes this is run in the background, and you don't have to do anything. Just download the software or insert the CD, and the installer program takes over. With some programs, you'll see a dialog asking you to install it only after you choose the program from the Start menu. For other programs, you may insert a CD and nothing will happen. When this occurs, you can tell Windows to install the program.
